Event Details

In an ever-evolving marketing atmosphere filled with new platforms, new tools and new lingo, it can be overwhelming and difficult for individuals in creative fields to recognize how social media platforms can work as well for their market as it does for small businesses. For Jersey Shore writers, artists, filmmakers, restauranteurs, or anyone with a passion for creativity who wants to know how to promote their work using sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Big Cartell, and ArtBistro, a group of local professionals is ready to help at their next in a series of social media workshops.

On February 27, The Showroom in Asbury Park will host the second workshop, “Social Media for Creative People,” from VoxPopNJ, a new group that grew out of the recent popular speed-slideshow event AsburyPop. VoxPopNJ is committed to strengthening the brand of local businesses, entrepreneurs, and creative individuals through social media and other forms of self-marketing.

The second workshop is led by Philadelphia based filmmaker Stephanie Yuhas, Executive Producer of ProjectTwenty1, and Joanna Carides, owner of Brand New Day Media in Brick, NJ, who recently spoke at ArtsCAP's social media seminar.  This workshop embodies Joanna's philosophy and Stephanie's practical application.  Says Carides, "Your ideas take flight on the web through the smart use of social media. I teach you what you need to know, easily explained with examples, and help you start the conversation with your audience. Brand New Day Media is Social Media Set in Motion".

Workshop topics include:

  • Introduction to Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, & Blogs
  • How to market your work on Big Cartel and ArtBistro
  • Examples of local artists successfully using social media
  • Presentation of ProjectTwenty1's approach to marketing with social media including the success of Facebook's Susie Filmmaker

Following the workshop and a dinner break, the New Jersey Film Alliance sponsors a screening of a selection of ProjectTwenty1's films as well as provide information regarding their future contests and film festivals.
